Turn the TV off for Romance

Posted by Nick

For this romantic idea, if you have children, wait until they are in bed – if not, then any time will work – but after dinner is best, IMO.  Go get some kind of “romantic” snack – something like strawberries and chocolate syrup, in separate bowls so she can dip if she likes.  If she likes wine, have some of her favorite wine in a glass for her – think of what she likes – you are romancing her, not yourself.

Then when you are about to sit down to watch TV, suggest that you leave it off (or turn it off, if it’s on). Tell her you would love to just sit and chat and you have a little surprise for her.  Go outside if it’s nice, or find a comfortable place to relax in the house – but not the bedroom.  Bring out the snack and drinks on a tray and then just chat.  Ask her about her day.  Let her vent, if she needs to.  Listen to her.  Compliment her.

This is not about sex – it is about romance.  Romance is about building a connection with your wife.  Remember, women find the act of relating to each other emotionally more important than relating physically.  But keep in mind: when your wife feels a closer connection to you, her desire for you will eventually soar.

Romantic Tip - A Different Use for Flowers

Posted by Nick

Romantic Flowers on the Bed

Some time tonight, get some romantic flowers - nothing expensive, just something colorful and romantic.  Keep them in some water and keep them hidden (like in the garage or something - but make it someplace cool).

Now to romance her: in the morning, wake up early, cut the flowers off the stems and scatter them on the bed (around her pillow and along the sides of her body).  Then just go about your morning.  When she wakes she will be surprised and happy with her romantic surroundings (just make sure she's not allergic to the flowers - HA!).

She'll feel special and she'll feel loved.

Romantic Idea - A Mixed Up Note

Posted by Nick

Write a Poem or Love Note - Mix it Up

Yes - I know many men are not the best romance writers.  If that is the case, find a romantic "I love you" or "just because" greeting card and use the text from that.  Or you can write a romantic poem - or just write romantic a note telling her how much you love her.  Whatever you write, make it something loving and sincere.  Sincere = romantic.

For this romantic idea, take the romance message a step further: write each word on an individual sticky note (I suggest the smaller ones).  As you write each one, number it so that they can be placed in order to reveal your message.  The last two sticky notes should have "Love," and your name on them.

Place the sticky notes with your words in a mixed up order all over her bathroom mirror (or where ever she gets ready in the morning).  Or - better yet, if you have access to where she works, mix them up and stick them all over her desk.

She'll really enjoy un-scrambling the message, and will appreciate the effort and the romance of her special message.

Romance Tip for Sunday

Posted by Nick

Have a romantic picnic.

This is the time of year in most of the Northern Hemisphere to try this romance tip.  For a romantic dinner, if it is nice outside, just grab a blanket and some paper plates and take everyone outside for dinner on the lawn.  Let the kids, if you have any, play between bites.  Just relax, let go and enjoy.  If the weather does not permit, or you don't have a lawn or yard, then have your romantic picnic on the living room rug.  (Of course, make sure the TV is off.)

This break in the routine can be a fun and romantic departure from the rut and will bring you closer together as a family and as husband and wife.  Remember: romance is about connecting and getting closer.  And getting closer means she'll feel more loved, more secure and more attracted to you.
